1978  Lamborghini Urraco 1978 Mid-engine design;  looked good;  didn't perform

1986 Lamborghini Jalpa 1987 Bertone design with V8;  neither worked very well 

1960  Lancia Flaminia 3C T 1965 Beautiful Pininfarina design;  like a fine watch;  strange clutch;  nice driving position

1976  Lancia Scorpion 1982 Targa top;  mid-engine 4;  too slow

1976 Lancia Stratos 1983 Wild Bertone design;  there's the Dino motor again;  not for the street

1965  Land Rover  109 1969 Huge;  got stuck on Duxbury beach;  learning experience

1966  Land Rover 88  Diesel 1968 How slow could it go;  will never rust

1961  Lotus Seven 1962 Closest to race car;  perfect handling;  good power;  no top

1963  Lotus Elite 1970 Tiny and fun to drive;  not much power but makes for it with excellent handling

1964  Lotus Elan 1974 Jim T's car;  not quite as tiny;  excellent road manners;  needs quality control

1977  Lotus Esprit Turbo 1980 Too plasticky;  cramped driving position;  speedy with decent handling

1962  Maserati 3500 GT spyder 1968 Very solid feel;  fast for a 6;  nice notchy gearbox

1966  Maserati Mistral 1966 Beautiful Frua design;  still a six but fast;  5 speed ZF

1972  Maserati Ghibli SS spyder 1973 Traded on a 365GTC4;  another wind from Africa;  automatic;  V8 helps

1976  Maserati Bora 1985 Better with the V8;  lovely design from Giugiaro;  too much Citroen

1980  Maserati Merak 1982 Mild V6;  some Citroen bits;  mid-engine helps handling

1983  Maserati Biturbo 1984 Twin turbochargers helped;  plain design;  not a BMW killer
